Gen Z Insights: October 2022

The college school year is in full swing and we are cranking with our clients on their Fall & Holiday campaigns!

In this month’s issue of Gen Z Insights we survey a select group of our student athlete community on how they approach their mental game, spotlight our latest student athlete - Alexa Gonzales, USC, Women’s Soccer and a new client case study on Brooks Running.

If you happen to be in the New York City area next week we will be at Advertising Week for our signature session “The Next Wave of Gen Z Influence: NCAA Student Athletes” with myself, Brendan Gahan at Mekanism, Steven Vigilante at OLIPOP, two members of our student athlete community and Phoebe Bain of Morning Brew. Details on our session can be found here - it takes place on Wednesday, October 19th.

New Year New You Infographic

As part two of our two-part series "Mind // Body" of the NCAA student athlete, we share with you results from 350 student athlete members of 98Strong community on their approach to mental health in keeping mind top of mind. The survey details the following...

  • How do you mentally prepare for a game/match?

  • Do you use any meditation apps?

  • How much is your sport mental vs. physical ability?

  • Does your athletic department provide mental health support?

  • Do you have a sports psychologist?

  • How do you best support your mind?

  • How much do you prioritize taking care of your mind?

The results showcase that mental health is taken seriously by student athletes with different practices and approaches to staying sharp for school and sport.

Student Spotlight

Alexa Gonzales

“Alexa has been a part of multiple influencer campaigns for Brooks Running, Outstanding Foods, Quantum Squares and UPTIME Energy to name a few. She is the epitome of a 98Strong student athlete with a dedicated core social media following that has tremendous engagement with her generation and the USC campus. This unique combo of core following and authentic engagement has led to her consistently outperforming KPI goals and being our Student Athlete Spotlight for October.”

Looking Ahead

If you are in the tri-state area next week, definitely hit me up to connect at Advertising Week or for a coffee in the city. We are excited about our panel session on Wednesday, October 19th, 5:45pm at Marketplace Stage, The Market Line in the Lower East Side and would love for you to attend.

Additionally, we will be featuring our collaborative infographic that features all the "mind body balance" survey data in one image at Advertising Week. Look for that to drop at the conference as well as launching our Gen Z Insights portion of 98Strong.com where we will house all past, present and future newsletter content and other great materials.

We understand this is a busy time of year, but we would love to connect and see how we can be helpful this quarter or in the new year. So, whether you have a last minute need or want to integrate us into your plans for Holiday or New Year, New You, please reach out. The best way to connect is responding to this email directly or filling out our “how can we help” form.
